Thanks also to the MANY volunteers that came out to set up community booths, dole out hot chocolate and cotton candy, keep us safe from flying snowballs, and who put on amazing puppet shows. A BIG Hermon THANKS to Steven Rimilinger for taking all of these wonderful pictures at Hermon's the event when all of the rest of us where too busy drinking hot chocolate, watching puppet shows, eating cotton candy, and playing in the snow. Thanks, Steven!!! |
All Things HERMON. . . (11/6/22)
*** What a great "Hermon" kind of day it was yesterday! Thanks to the many wonderful volunteers that came out to clean up different areas in Hermon that really needed some attention -- like the open space along Via Marisol across from Hermon Park, and around the outside of Monterey Plaza and other streets. Some of the volunteers were students putting in their community service hours. Love to give students the experience of giving back to their community and seeing the pride in their job and in making a difference. Thanks to Fresco Community Market for donating hot coffee, Hermon Advance Team (HAT) for providing Monterey Donuts first thing in the morning, and to Thai Fantasy for bringing out yummy Thai iced tea to bulky item volunteers near the end of the day. Thanks to Hermon Neighborhood Council for being at the event, and for awarding a Neighborhood Purposes Grant to HAT that was used for getting the Paper Cuts truck to the event to shred so many boxes of your documents and papers. And thanks to LA DWP for having a booth there and handing out info and goodies to folks. A special thank you goes to our friend Rueben who filled endless bags of the many layers of leaves from the sidewalks and gutters around Monterey Plaza. It's spotless! We can always tell when something’s been "Rueben-ized"! Then to our bulky item helpers who got loads and loads of things out of vehicles and into the big City dumpsters -- Miguel, Alex, Martin and Liz --a great big thank you! It was a lovely, neighborly, productive, and feel-good day. |
Because it’s all good in Hermon … where quirky works, families return, and dogs sleep all night long. -Wendi |
